about

Hey all. I'm Renee Houle, the creator of operation philanthropy. I was born, raised and currently reside in Boston, Massachusetts. During the day, I am a fundraising professional and also a part-time Masters in Public Administration graduate student. I recently became reliant on my morning coffee, enjoy classic movies, and love a good to-do list.

I started my career as a philanthropist at the early age of 10, donating my report card money to a local shelter. Coming from a modest background, I learned the value of a dollar at a very young age and have always concerned myself with others. My passion still lies with helping others and I hope to one day build a career where I can make a difference.

I once saw the great economist, Barry Bluestone, speak at a conference and I quickly developed a total nerd crush. He explained our current economic state in a way that any commoner could understand and he inspired me with his thoughts on the importance of philanthropy. How simple the philosophy of philanthropy could be. He stated that philanthropy is about more than just doing good, it's the solution to many of our social and economic issues.

This blog is my attempt to make philanthropy accessible and a part of every day life. Hip even. It profiles worthy causes, those giving back and their impact! It attempts to explain what philanthropy means to different people and why it is so important.  My hope is that this blog will be a resource for my readers, to learn about initiatives and causes and how you can get involved.

If you would like to share your story, post a need for volunteers, or have your mission featured on operation philanthropy, please email me at operationphilanthropy@gmail.com.

    1. Misch,
Thank you! I hope to make it as aweseome as possible.
I would love to feature Healthcare for the Homeless! If you want to send me a quick blurb on what the org does, what you do and how people can volunteer, that would be great.
